Workforce Investment Solutions offers employment and training services to Macon and DeWitt County residents.  This program is funded through the federal Workforce Investment Act. Workforce Investment Solutions provides services to adults, dislocated workers and youth to assist them in selecting the right job, to advance in their current career, or changing to a new career.  We also provide workshops on conducting a job search, selecting a career, in writing a resume and interviewing.

Funding is utilized to assist economically disadvantaged youth with earning a GED, gaining employment, completing a high school diploma, and participating in post-secondary education.  The adult and dislocated worker funding is to assist those unemployed or under employed.  After an assessment of the applicant’s skills and abilities, it is determined if retraining is needed in order for the person to become re-employed.  Training is up to 2 years in an area in which there will be a demand for the occupation once training is completed.  Tuition, books, fees, and any supportive services (i.e. mileage and/or child care) are covered by the grants Workforce Investment Solutions receives.

Workforce Investment Solutions also has an on-the-job training program.  This program reimburses employers that enter into a contract 50% of a person’s wages for up to six months in order to offset the employer’s expenses of training a person for a position.
